About the Text Line Sorter

Text Line Sorter reorders a list of lines alphabetically (A–Z or Z–A), by line length, or numerically by the number each line starts with. Turn on 'Ignore case' for a true alphabetical order regardless of capitalisation. It is ideal for tidying lists, keywords and references. Sorting happens in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Paste your lines, one item per line.
  2. Choose how to sort and whether to ignore case.
  3. Click 'Sort' and copy the ordered result.

Frequently asked questions

How does numeric sorting work?

It reads the number at the start of each line and orders by value, so 2 comes before 10 (unlike plain alphabetical sorting).

Is my list uploaded?

No. Sorting is done locally in your browser.
